I was always loyal to Playstation, but I can't be strung along anymore. Bottom line is it sounds like the Xbox fits my needs better anyway, I am strictly an online player and I really only play a few games (football, baseball and I am going to try basketball when I get my next system). I have a 50 inch plasma and great surround sound. There are a couple of major questions I have though before making a 100% commitment.

The first, I am worried that playstation graphics will look better on my TV because it has an HDMI port. I don't know if Xbox has one, but I don't think it does. Second, I have heard Playstion sound is very good on a good surround, and I haven't heard anything about XBOX, but I really am not a techy and don't know if it is a spec thing or if it is a non issue. Third, the hard drive is only 20 gigs, but I am not thinking it will be an issue for my needs since I don't play a lot of games. Fourth, The overheating issue scares the hell out of me. Will the systems I buy now be better than the originals, have they done anything to them to improve them. And finally........this is an issue I really don't expect an answer , but the HDDVD vs Blue ray. I was in Hollywood video/Game crazy, and they had both but 3-1 Blue ray. She said they only rent about 1 a week though and most people return them because they didn't know they needed a special player. Either way I'm taking a chance but its something I think about.

Bottom line is, if the XBOX has HDMI, or if it doesn't but the graphics are not noticeably worse with component cables and the sound is the same and most importantly it wont overheat out of the box I am getting one immediately and I'll never look back as playstation has cost me a year of missing out on next generation gaming and asking me to wait another 6 months.

one more thing, would I be able to use my linksys adapter that I use for my playstion for the xbox or do I have to spend another 100 on their adapter (I saw one at gamecrazy).
Okay.

The Xbox 360 overheating problems have been fixed. You're unlucky if you get one that has problems...

The graphics. Does your TV support 1080P? If not, the graphics will look about the same. The Xbox 360 can do 1080P too. I have compared. Xbox 360 graphics look better since it came out first.

If you are looking at graphics, I'd say go with the Xbox 360, it'll take years for the PS3 to match the 360 in terms of graphical power.

HDMI doesn't really matter. 1080P Signals can go through component.

Blu-Ray, HD DVD. It's VERY VERY hard to tell the difference between 1080P and 720p.

Surround sound. The Xbox 360 and PS3 will have the same sound. Xbox 360 can support Dolby Digital 5.1. I hooked it up to my 7.1 receiver and it's never been better

Graphic wise, they will be the same.
Sound wise, they will be the same

Your best will be the Xbox 360. Saving you 200 bucks.
Don't forget, the PREMIUM system is the way to go.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ANSWERMadBOX360!XBOX360 HAS THE SAME GRAPHICS AND THE SAME SOUND AS THE PS3.PLUS IT HAS BETTER GAMES FROM PS3,IT HAS BETTER ONLINE AND BETTER DESING!

XBOX360 FOR EVER!
if your worried about the HDMI the new elite does have a HDMI port and a 120 gig hardrive
VGA is the same as hdmi, the only difference is that hdmi carries the sound over the cable as well. I know, i know, vga is only analog not digital. well here is a couple of things to look at:
1. computer moniters use vga( video graphics adapter) and moniters have even higher resolutions then hdtv`s!
2. depending on your tv( i have a sammy 50` dlp 1080p) the picture still has to be decoded and transferred to the screen!
so with this, people need to quit worring about the hdmi craze unless you just dont want 50 thousand cables behind your set. the only reason the "elite" will support "hdmi" is to try and shut the idiot ps3 people up and take away yet another pro from sony! horaah
