My computer is acting wierd and going slow. Can someone help me?

lol what is the problem? you cant just say it is acting weird lol...

Me dont know. I am doing an AVG Scan right now.

It WAS going very slowly. Let me finish my scan, it most likely will say nothing.

Try these if your computer is slow...

Clear the temporary internet files. Everything that is in the internet cache.

Delete unessacery files. (Stuff you don't use anymore, old software, etc...)

Buy more RAM, the standard is 512MB but try getting to at least 1GB, ram helps make things move smoothly.

Don't run too many processes at once, this can really slow it down.

Get a faster processer.

Buy a NEW computer with fast processor or better RAM.

Run a virus scan.

Ok all good points but here is something else for you to run in addition to a virus scan. A spyware/adware scan. I use SpyBot. When I find my inet is running a tad on the slow side or my comp lags abit. Thta't ussually the cause.

How did you get a PC for $600.00?

I got it at a warehouse called Sams Club.

They sell things cheap there. A 50 inch HD-Builit in plasma TV is only $1750, and it's Phillips. A Sony 60in DLP is only $2000.

Apple iPods are $40 cheaper.

You know why it was so cheap? Because it's crap. I wouldn't buy a compaq if my life depended on it. They use such cheap parts. Not to mention that graphics card is pretty bad. But yea 1GB of Ram and 200GB HD isn't bad. But yea there is a reason why they can sell them so cheap, because they use cheap parts. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Compaq things are okay for me. Besides, I had to replace my HP computer I got from my parents that was crap. It ran Windows 98. And it was so freaking slow.

Yeah, to keep your PC fresh, you're going to have to back everything up and install a fresh copy of Windows like every 6 months. Its stupid.
