Hi i have had my 360 for about 2-3 months and i usallu play for about 3 hours a night. Its only froze on me 2 and i recently bouth the fan stand.
so i was wondering if you guys can give me some tips on how to keep my xbox 360 from got really hot and overheating im not saying gve me ideas but you can im looking more for maybee what i should do with the poewr supply and things like that my 360 and poewr supply are on my tv stand now and i have the fan stand so please can you help me..
Well the cpu is a 90nm cpu so I doubt the cpu would be the problem. I think the GPU heats up tremendously though and the fan stand I believe try to blow air in the side and out the back but I dont see how well this works since the fans are under the 360 when its standing up in the stand. The intercooler add 3 fans that pulls the heat out much faster instead of pushing air in.
ok so do you think it would be better with the fan stand and intercooler
You would have to tell us. Buy it and try it out.
you can also place ur power supply up on it sides so the air goes thru it and dosent heat over
OK I purchased an in intercooler and its coming in the mail when i get it do you think i should keep my 360 standing up or laying on one of its sides?

You should leave it on it's side. I emailed Microsoft and they said if it's vertical, it can potentially damage the disc because of gravity. For me, vertical position gets warmer than horizontal. I think this is why, I'm probably wrong.

Vertical: All exaust and air intake holes are free, except for the big bottom ones on the ground when you have it standing up. It only allows I'd say 1mm of air to pass out, and that's not that much.

Horizontal: All exaust and air intake hoels are free except for the holes on one side that's sitting on the ground. Because of the "curved" shaped of the Xbox 360, and not a flat shaped like a square, it doesn't exactly cover the whole thing. It lets about an inch or so of air out, much bigger than a millimeter.

If you don't what I'm getting at, I think I have some exaples.

Pretend you have a SEMI-CIRCLE. Pretend to place the semicircle on the ground, the curved up. Notice that there is still a hole where you can stick something though, for the 360, AIR. But now pretend you have a plaine square, put the sqaure on one of it's sides and you'll notice that the side that's sitting on the ground does not have a hole or opening for any objects to fit it. For the 360, no air can pass out.

I may be wrong, but that is just what I think.

Filthy, have you tried putting little pads on the Xbox 360 sides or corners when it's horizontal so it can elevate the 360 and let more airflow on the bottom side? That's what I did, it seems to cool the Xbox 360 down a bit, but not that much. Still, it's a improvment. Also, I use a device called a DUCT DEMON which converts hot air into cool air. It's not that big, and it's really convienient to place on the top on the 360 when it's on it's sides. With the DUCT DEMON, it seems that the exaust is cooler. The DUCT DEMON does not force air back into the 360, but it pulls it out just like the intercooler. It also helps circulate air better because of it's powerful fans. Hey, here's the best part, it's whisper soft.

Another solution to keep your 360 cooler is place 2 UMD cases (Universal Media Disc, this can be found when you purchase PSP games) on the bottom of the 360 if it's sitting vertical to allow about 1 or 2 centimeters of air flow. 1Cm is much better than 1mm. Here's a picture:

As you can see above, the space between the ground and the bottom of the 360 is much bigger.

If anyone can try these things I tested out, give some reveiws to Filty or any others.

If anyone wants to see what I did to keep my 360 cool. PM me or post in Filthy's thread here and I'll give you some pictures.[mod:508d859b17="craigrs"]Don't use image tags when in image is to bigger than then page, link it[/mod:508d859b17]

ok so your saying put on side and elavate my 360 w/ the pad things like you did?

Ok that is what ill do then and also i have my 360 wiht 2 bottle caps on it to elavate it lol thats pimp lol....ghetto with a 2 gatarode caps lol..
Lol. the higher the Xbox 360 is (not that high) the better, it lets the 360 get more air out.
