Yes, the Xbox 360 is a good buy for your B-Day. It might be even better if your B-Day is closer to Nov-Dec because the price MIGHT drop on Christmas or Thanksgiving day.
Since you don't like the Ps3 which is 600 for the good one, the Xbox 360 is still a great game system. The graphics are way better than the Original Xbox, and you can do a lot more things with it. I suggest you buy the Premium System because it comes with a HDD which retails 100$. Core=300+HDD=400 with no wireless controllers to start with.
The X360 games are great if you're a action or sports gamer. RPG's aren't that "hot" on the 360 yet.
The graphics are great, cept for some little off-scale images which I'm sure will get better as the games go on. People seem to actually know what they are doing. In the original Xbox, you can only move at 45* angles, but in the 360, you can move a full 360* with players.
It's pretty cool- you can use your controller to turn off the console.!!!!

So, Xbox 360 is a great machine if you don't like the other Next-Gen ones. Don't worry about overheating in the 90 days you bought it. MSFT warrents it.
