Mine has 14GB of free space. I think 15GB if I delete everything I can. So yes the 360 automatically uses up 5GB of your 20GB hard drive.

I just read every damn word on my 360 box and couldnt find it lol. Maybe he meant the box that the hard drive sells in.

that is for all the system files and sh1t though, just like on a psp memory stick, or a computer harddrive.
