"Microsoft and Chartered Semiconductor, the manufacture of the Xbox 360's CPU, released a joint announcement declaring that the console's processor will receive an upgrade in 2007. The new chip's design will use a 65nm manufacturing process instead of 90nm, which will provide a smaller heat output because less power will be used. Although the new PC isn't expected to have any performance increases because there would be too many compatibility issues, this will hopefully solve many overheating issues. After the 360's launch many gamers were distraught when they saw their red ring of light appear, but luckily their cries aren't going unheard."
what good does this do to ppl who currently own a 360? maybe a trade in or something?
I sure hope so. I will be very pissed if there is no free upgrade option.

yeh that would be harsh if you had to pay for it!
Why would you want to trade yours in for the newer 1? maybe if your 360 crashes and overheats buts its pointless if it doesnt..

Why trade a 90nm cpu for a 65nm cpu?? Well lets see. Less heat means better performance. Its a better cpu even if its clocked at same speeds. Plus its BRAND NEW. 90% of the 360 crashes are due to heat. Why do you think Microsoft is changing the cpu? To reduce the heat.
yeah im sure this will be bout like the fat ps2 trade in for the slimline one

Well the PS2 was out for like 3 or 4 years before a new one came out. This is a little different.
but surely they would let you trade in, if they made you pay for it then i doubt many ppl would buy microsofts next console. microsoft would basically be saying "sorry that we fuc*** up on the console, our bad, but you have to pay for the working one anyway"
