Microsoft will release Halo 3 in March 2007, according to two unnamed sources. The sources, one from Microsoft and the other close to the company, told IGN that the company had no plans to launch the next addition of the Halo series at the same time as the Playstation 3, but rather a few months later. The PS3 is slated for a November 2006 release.
Many gamers and analysts had predicted that Microsoft would release Halo 3 around the same time as Sony and Nintendo launched their next-generation consoles in an effort to dampen the hype.
It must be remembered, however, that the March 2007 release date is by no means officially confirmed and therefore should be considered nothing more than a rumor until Microsoft announces an official launch date.
Microsoft did not comment on the matter when contacted.
Halo 3 is by far the most anticipated game on the Xbox 360 after the previous versions huge successes on Microsoft’s original Xbox.
