Wasn't sure where to place this topic and couldn't find any info on it yet so.... A friend of mine told me he was watching tech tv and heard that using the 360's dvd player will burn the 360 out much quicker... anybody else hear about this?

Nope, i doubt it.

Seeing how the original Xbox played DVDs flawlessly I would highly doubt that the new 360 would come with that flaw. Only the PS2 suffered from that problem.
